Quote of the Day

Women; " Sometimes we feel like our ONE-VOTE won't make a difference. But in the voting booth, we are all equal. And we all have the same amount of power. Women make up more than 50% of the population, but do not vote proportionately. I think if we want change, then it's up to us to make the changes. That means going out and voting, letting our voice be known. Perhaps then, politicians will take women's issues more seriously."

Teenager Cited For Wildfire

Wenatchee-Wash;" Forest Service said it plans to bill a teenager $10 million to pay the costs of fighting a 16,000-acre wildfire. Ryan Unger, 18, was cited for operating an off-road vehicle without a spark arrester, which believed started a fire in central Washington. Besides burning thousands of acres, the fire destroyed one home. Forest Service is required by law to recover costs of fighting forest fires. Natural Resources has paid about one-third of the total $14.9 million it took to extinguish the blaze. Teenagers father said, the family would not comment."
I use to live in this area years ago, before I moved to Forks Wash., where in the burn season usually around July-Aug. Their! You had to be so careful to not so much as drop a cig. Out your car-window because it was risky, it got really dry at times when they would have no rain. What is sad tho... I don't think the kid ever thought he would start a fire, by just driving around in his rig! But to ask a young man to pay back that kind of money is un-real! I don't see how he will ever be able to do it. Looks like he'll remember this for long-time... Hopefully others learned from his mistake also!
